What should be paid attention to improve the service life of carbide saw blades?
The service life of carbide saw blades is much longer than that made of carbon steel and high-speed steel. Some problems should be paid attention to during use to improve cutting life.
The wear of the saw blade is divided into three stages. The hard alloy that has just been sharpened has an initial wear stage, and then enters the normal grinding stage. When the wear reaches a certain level, sharp wear will occur. We want to sharpen before sharp wear occurs, so that the amount of grinding is minimal and the life of the saw blade can be extended.
Grinding of teeth
The grinding of the carbide saw blade is according to the relationship of 1:3 between the rake angle and the relief angle. When the saw blade is properly ground, it can make the tool keep working normally within its service life. Improper ground, such as grinding only from the rake angle or only from the relief angle will shorten the service life of the blade.
The entire worn area should be reground adequately. Carbide saw blades are ground on an automatic sharpening machine. Due to quality reasons, it is not recommended to manually sharpen the saw blades on a general-purpose sharpening machine. The automatic CNC sharpening machine can ensure the grinding of the rake and relief angles exactly in the same direction.
The grinding of the rake and relief angles ensures the ideal use state and stable service life of the carbide saw tooth. The minimum remaining length and width of the saw tooth should not be less than 1 mm (measured from the tooth seat).
Grinding of the saw body
In order to prevent the large wear of the diamond grinding wheel, it is necessary to leave enough side protrusions from the side of the saw tooth to the saw body. On the other side, the largest side protrusion should be no larger than 1.0-1.2 mm per side to ensure the stability of the saw tooth.
Modification of the chip flute
Although grinding will reduce the length of the saw tooth, the design of the chip flute can ensure that the heat treated and ground saw blade has enough space for chip clean out, thereby to avoid grinding the saw teeth at the same time to modify the flutes.
Replacement of teeth
If the teeth are damaged, the teeth should be replaced by manufacturer or other designated grinding centers. Welding should use suitable welding silver slip or other solders, and operate with a high-frequency welding machine.
Tengsioning and balancing
Tengsioning and balancing are absolutely necessary processes for the full performance of the saw blade, and must not be ignored. Therefore, the tension and balance of the saw blade should be checked and corrected every time during grinding. balance is to reduce the tolerance of saw blade run-out, add tension to give the saw body strength and toughness, which is an essential process for saw blades with thin kerf. The correct leveling and stressing process should be carried out under the precise flange outer diameter size and speed. The relationship between the saw blade outer diameter and the flange outer diameter is specified in the DIN8083 standard. Generally speaking, the outer diameter of the flange should not be less than 25-30% of the outer diameter of the saw blade.
